Frequently Asked Questions

Where is NOLA Wine Merchant located?

NOLA Wine Merchant is located in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans, at 5601 Magazine Street directly across from Whole Foods.

Where can I park if I visit NOLA Wine Merchant?

We have a parking lot!  We offer free off-street parking in our lot.

Can you put my wine in the car for me?

Absolutely!  We are old-fashioned like that and usually insist on carrying out and loading boxes for our customers.

Can you order a special wine or put together a custom case for me?

Absolutely!  For specific wines, give us the information that you have, and we will see if it’s possible to order it for you. We also love putting together cases for our customers! Give us a call or fill out our online form and we’ll work with you to create the perfect case for your tastes.

Do you hold wine tastings?

We have both ticketed and free tasting events that are announced through our website, newsletters, and social media.  We also have bottles open for sampling in our store every day.  We want our customers and staff to have the opportunity to taste as many wines as possible!

Do you have wine available already chilled?

We sure do!  We have a large cooler with a wide selection of wines chilled and ready to drink!  We even have a stash of plastic Mardi Gras cups we can share with you in case you are headed to the park with your bottle.

Do you offer appointment shopping?

Yes, we do.  If you are planning an event, stocking a cellar, or selecting a large quantity of bottles for gifts, this may be the best way for you to shop.  Prior to your appointment we will gather information about your taste, budget and timing, so that we can have appropriate samples open and at proper temps when we meet. We typically schedule these appointments during our slower retail hours in order to give you the most attention.

Can my wine group meet in your tasting room?

We would love to host your wine group!  We start this process by gathering the pertinent information from a member of your group in order to provide you with a cost estimate, presentation proposal, and available dates and times.

What do you mean by “try before you buy?”

We have samples open in our store for you to try for free.  We want to understand your tastes, what you like and more importantly, what you DO NOT like!  The feedback you give us while tasting in our store helps us to guide you to bottles you will enjoy the most.

Why do you want my name when I check out?

Our customers often come in and tell us that they purchased a bottle six weeks ago and loved it, but cannot remember what it was. By tying your purchases to your name, we can more easily track which bottles you’ve enjoyed in the past, and make informed decisions on which bottles you might enjoy in the future!

I want to host a tasting in my home.  Can a member of your staff lead it?

This is a service that we offer! We start this process by gathering the pertinent information from a member of your group in order to provide you with a cost estimate and presentation proposal.
