MISA Imports Tasting
Thursday, February 13
4:00-6:30pm
This is a free event.
Registration is not required, unless you want us to send you a reminder.

Although Carole Decouard will be unable to join us, we have rescheduled the free tasting of French wines from her portfolio with MISA Imports for this Thursday, February 13th from 4pm until 6:30pm. Nearly every wine being poured that day is new to the store though we have worked with all of the producers before. 4 red Rhônes, 2 red Burgundies, 1 Beaujolais, 1 Sancerre and 1 white Burgundy. One of the red Burgundies is from Poulleau, the Bourgogne Rouge that was all the rage last summer and into the fall. We will also have an extra wine that night, a red Burgundy under $20(!) that really impressed us. You should make every reasonable effort to be here that night!

The lineup is as follows:
Raimbault-Pineau Sancerre 2023
Domaine des Granges Pouilly-Vinzelles 2021
Domaine J. Boulon Beaujolais Supérieur Vieilles Vignes 2023
Henri Latour et Fils Hautes Côtes de Beaune Rouge 2022
Domaine Poulleau Père et Fils Chorey-lès-Beaune 2022
Domaine Palon Vacqueyras 2022
Guillaume Gonnet Rasteau ‘Le Maestro’ 2020
Guillaume Gonnet Gigondas ‘Le Mentor’ 2020
Château de Vaudieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2021
VENI
VIDI
BIBI!

We are pleased to announce a new price on a favorite wine that is drinking beautifully and is a terrific reminder of why Beaujolais is considered part of Burgundy.

Domaine Pascal Granger Juliénas Clos des Poulettes 2019 was $26, now $22!
We received a better discount from our distributor, bought all they had in stock and reduced the price. Then we quickly opened a bottle to be sure we still loved the wine. We do. It drinks more like a serious Pinot Noir than most Cru Beaujolais. There are pure, juicy red fruits as well as some fresh earth and just an edge of mushroom from some time in bottle. The family has been working these estate vines for 200 years and the 1 hectare plot for this wine has 50 year-old vines! About half of the wine is done with carbonic maceration, which explains the bright berry fruit but the old vines are an integral part of making this a more serious example of Beaujolais.

Juliénas is named after Julius Caesar and one could easily imagine him saying “Veni, vidi, bibi!”  I came, I saw, I drank.
PARADE HOURS

We will continue to have wines open to taste in the store through the Mardi Gras and into the lenten season but we will have some different hours.

We will resume tastings and classes sometime in March and will announce all of those in our March newsletter.
EXCITING BURGUNDY ARRIVALS

Finally, arriving next week are some exciting Burgundies, red and white, among them, Paul Pillot, Thierry Pillot, Guillard (one of our favorite Gevrey producers) and even some Fourrier, a legendary Gevrey producer!

Check in with us next week about these or send us an email or text expressing interest and we will get back to you with specifics. We also have, in stock and available, a small amount of Bérêche and Cedric Bouchard champagnes!

These are becoming harder and harder to get as more people figure out how terrific they are!
